Episode Highlights
From Freelancer to Founder: Jack’s Journey Across Three Continents
Yanique: Tell us about your journey from where you were to where you are today.
Jack’s path began during university, where he juggled three jobs simultaneously, not out of necessity alone, but because he quickly recognized that experience compounds. Every role added to a foundation that made the next opportunity possible. That mindset carried him from graduation directly into work, and eventually into building his own business.
Today he runs agencies in the GCC, the Middle East, Australia, and the United States, and leads BrainDigits, a consultancy helping organizations navigate AI and digital transformation. His background in digital transformation positioned him perfectly for a moment when every industry is being reshaped by technology.
He also writes, because sharing experience is part of how he leads.
Lead Forward: The Book Written for Those Who Feel Like Stopping
Yanique: Tell us about Lead Forward and who it was written for.
Lead Forward was written for three types of people Jack encounters every day: entrepreneurs who are just getting started and feel overwhelmed, senior professionals on the edge of retirement who are ending strong careers without a clear next chapter, and leaders in the middle who feel pressure but lack clarity.
Jack pushed back on the word retirement. His message to seasoned professionals is that their experience is not a conclusion. It is a resource. The book is filled with real examples drawn from his own work and the communities he comes from, including a minority background that shaped his sense of responsibility.
“I don’t like the word retirement. Why would someone with that level of experience just stop? Their career shouldn’t end because it’s business as usual.” ~ Jack Jendo
AI First or AI Enabled: What the Future Workplace Actually Looks Like
Yanique: Is the future workplace AI-first or AI-enabled?
Jack placed AI in historical context. Every transformative invention, paper, fire, the internet, disrupted every industry it touched. AI is at that same inflection point today. But the real change is not in the tools. It is in mindset.
He sees two futures emerging: organizations that adopt AI aggressively without clarity will struggle and eventually fail. And organizations led by people who know exactly what they are doing, where ownership and autonomy replace rigid structures, will thrive.
His observation is clear: the tools are available to everyone. What separates outcomes is whether the person using them knows what needs to be done.
“AI is pushing people to be that change. The future workplace is either a failed company relying on AI without clarity, or a thriving one with leaders who know exactly what they need.” ~ Jack Jendo
The Digital Twin: AI as a Leadership Skill
Yanique: What mindset does a leader need to effectively lead into the AI era?
Jack introduced the concept of the Digital Twin, a personalized AI assistant trained not just with prompts but with a leader’s values, goals, frameworks, history, and way of thinking. Rather than using AI as a general tool, he builds specialized versions of himself for different functions: one for financial strategy, one for innovation, one for business development.
He described how these twins interact with each other, informed by the same foundation but focused on different areas. For leaders who have always wanted someone who can understand what they need without being told, this is the closest available equivalent.
His tools of choice: TwinJack on ChatGPT for brainstorming, trained over four years. And Claude for automation, trained over the past year as the model improved. He describes them as complementary and interconnected.
“Every task that has a clear process, you can do it today with AI. But you need mindset and tools together. That’s why it’s a leadership skill.” ~ Jack Jendo
Key Takeaways
- Experience compounds. Working across multiple roles and contexts, especially early, builds a foundation that creates opportunity.
- Retirement is not an endpoint. Senior professionals carry assets, relationships, and insight that have genuine value beyond a title.
- AI changes mindset before it changes tools. Clarity about what needs to be done is what separates effective AI use from noise.
- The Digital Twin concept turns AI from a general assistant into a personalized thinking partner, trained to reflect a leader’s values and frameworks.
- Specificity in AI training matters. Broad prompts produce generic results. The more context and structure you give, the more aligned the output.
- Two AI tools, each with a distinct role, can be more powerful than one, when both are well-trained and complementary.
- Leadership in the AI era requires ownership and freedom, not rigid processes. AI accelerates clarity and removes friction, but only if the leader knows the direction.
- Scaling happens during crisis, not after. Jack’s approach is to build capacity, strengthen teams, and expand during periods of pressure, not pull back.
- Remember why you started. That single anchoring question is what keeps forward momentum through adversity.
